A New York City police officer was shot in the head while pursuing a man at a Brooklyn housing project and narrowly evaded losing his life. Kevin Brennan, the 29 year old six year veteran of the force, was brought to Bellvue Hospital Center where the doctors removed the bullet from his skull. He remained in critical but stable condition. The police caught Luis Ortiz, the suspected gunman, in a nearby building hours after the shoot out between him and Brennan. Authorities say that Brennan fired one round missing Ortiz before he was shot in the head. Kevin Brennan is expected to make a full recovery.
